Insulated glass doors and windows are gradually becoming the new favorite of door and window products in home decoration due to their excellent heat preservation and sound insulation effects. But as long as you stroll around in the building materials market, people will find that there are many types of insulated glass doors and windows. Although the appearance is white plastic steel frame, middle trim and glass, the price is very different and make you dazzling. It is also difficult to choose when buying, so how to choose insulating glass? The editorial department of China Curtain Wall.com has screened and analyzed hundreds of glass brands and thousands of glass products in the product library, and summarized the following three aspects to identify the secrets of true and false insulating glass.
First of all, whether the insulating glass is sealed
True insulated glass is composed of two layers of glass, surrounded by high-strength & high-airtight composite adhesives to bond and seal the glass with sealing strips and glass strips. The sealing performance is superior. There are many fake insulated glass doors and windows only with two pieces of glass. They are glued only with black PVC foam strips, which actually has no sealing effect.
Secondly, whether there is an air layer in the middle of the hollow glass
There is a 6-9mm air layer between the two pieces of glass, and there are aluminum spacers at the bottom. There are many vents on the aluminum spacers. The air layer is filled with dry gas, and the frame is filled with desiccant to absorb the water in the gas and prevent the “fog” condensation phenomenon after the glass doors and windows are heated, to ensure the dryness of the air between the glass sheets, and the fake insulated glass of poor quality does not have these equipment. The internal fogging will occur and cannot be cleaned after about half a year.
Finally, field test the thermal insulation and sound insulation effect of doors and windows
Insulated glass leaves a certain cavity, it has a relatively good thermal insulation effect, so it is widely used in cold cities. In terms of sound insulation performance, high-frequency noise (such as speech, tweeter sound, etc.) in hollow glass has good sound insulation effect, but the effect of low-frequency traffic noise (such as bus engine noise, train noise, airplane noise, etc.) is not obvious. Because the air cavity of the hollow glass will resonate with the low-frequency noise of the outside in the low-frequency area, the low-frequency noise is easier to pass through the glass and enter the room. Of course, the sound insulation effect of fake “hollow” doors and windows is very general, and almost no heat preservation performance.
